Bicycle-Motor Vehicle Crashes in Chapel Hill is a typology and analysis of police-reported crashes spanning a four-year period.

In 2000 I examined all 86 police-reported bicycle-motor vehicle crashes that occurred in Chapel Hill during the four year period January 1996 through December 1999. This represented a 31% decrease from the 93 crashes that occurred during the three year period February 1993 through January 1996 which I examined in a previous report.

The four most frequently occurring collisions were:

1. Drive Out (20 cases)

2. Ride Out (16 cases)

3. Left Cross (12 cases)

4. Right Hook (10 cases)
